We are a group of auto enthusiasts located in USA, France & Germany who decided - after a 2 year e-mail communication relationship, and the occasional meeting at rally's, - to do something positive to remedy some issues in the hobby that we observed were missing.

These were primarily:
- finding contact with others with similar models, especially for restoration problems
- trying to estimate how many different makes / models were made
- survival rates of automobiles / where there makes / models with no existant specimens?
- the recognition that no all encompassing encyclopedia of all makes - all models existed, and that it would be a valuable and beneficial resource to create

We think its an amazing concept, and at the rate its growing, there are always new items.

They have about 1500 different automobiles detailed at the moment (we have also begun to contribute), & about 10'000 different models listed, waiting for detail. In discussion with them, we estimate that there could be up to 50'000 different models of motor car that have been produced since that first car appeared about 110 years ago?
